Hampshire ALC Communications Awards 2012
The ALC runs annual Communications Awards with presentations at the AGM; this year's presentations happened on Saturday 27th October 2012 at the Jubilee Hall in Hartley Wintney.
2011 and 2010 winner of the website competition was Denmead Parish Council.
Gordon Fong, MD of e-mango was the Judge for the Website Competition, and presented the e-mango Shield for the Best Council Website.
The results for 2012 were as follows:
First place was Compton and Shawford Parish Council
Second place was Denmead Parish Council
Third place was Bramley Parish Council.
Crompton and Shawford Parish Council Webmaster Adrian Walmsley accepted the award, " We were delighted and honoured to receive this recognition and we thank HALC for organising the competition."
Mrs Maxine Hornby, from Microshade VSM was the judge for the Best Local Council Newsletter competition, who stated that they were proud to be sponsoring the Newsletter Award, they believe good communications are paramount for Local Councils. The 2011 winner of the Newsletter competition was Deanmead Parish Council.
The results for 2012 were as follows:
First place was Botley Parish Council
Second place was Tadley Town Council
Third place was Deanmead Parish Council
Hampshire ALC Hampshire Clerk of the Year Award 2012
The Kirk Shield is given in memory of David Kirk; to a Clerk who has shown outstanding service. The nomination can be made by the Council, the ALC, or another stakeholder.
The award was presented to Mrs Leah Coney at Hartley Wintney of Hart District.
Runner up of the award was Mrs Margaret Gaylard from East Boldre of The New Forest District.
Steven Lugg, Chief Executive of the HALC stated that a good clerk is vital to the success of any council, and this award encourages councils to support the recruitment and retention of qualified and competent clerks.
Local Council Ambassadors
The ALC has launched an Award to note the Outstanding Contribution certain individuals have made to the local council sector in Hampshire and more widely.
The award of Parish Ambassador was made to Francis Abbott, retired Hon.Legal Advisor. Mr Abbott has had a long and supportive service to the Association of Local Councils as a Legal Advisor.
Current ambassadors are: Cllr Helen Douglas, Mr Michael Woodhall, Ms Kate Rowlandson, Mrs Cally Morris, Cllr Keith House, Mr Steve Parkinson, Mr Tom Van Der Hoven, Cllr Tony Coates, Mr Chris Smith, Mr Nick Goulder, and Mr Frank Abbott.
This group will be utilised as an informal think-tank for certain issues and will attend a yearly reception, as a means of promoting our local councils with important stakeholders.
