The report warns that many rural villages could wither in the future unless radical action is taken soon to safeguard their future. The Rural Coalition which produced the report is comprised by organisations which have a stake in the future of the country’s rural areas. The Rural Coalition is calling on the Government to use its Big Society agenda to allow rural communities to shape their own local places.

Untimely death of ALC Vice PresidentUntimely death of ALC Vice President
The ALC is shocked and saddened at the untimely death of ALC Vice President and County Cllr David Kirk over the weekend.
He was aged 62 and had lived in Andover since 1987.
Our thoughts go out to his wife Tracey and family at this time.
The parish sector in Hampshire will be much poorer for his passing.

On 22nd July, following the resignation of Cllr John Korbey, Vice Chairman Cllr Anne Winstanley was elected Chairman in succession.  This decision will be approved at full Board on 18th september 2010.

Professor Gerry Stoker, Professor of Politics at Southampton University and Director of the Centre for Citizenship, Globalisation and Governance has become the ALC's new President, and will meet the full membership at AGM 2010 on 23rd Ocotber 2010.
